River Cruise Newsletter Dated February 6, 2012
Dear Vacations To Go Customer,
The Great American Steamboat Company specializes in overnight
cruises onboard the American Queen, sailing the Mississippi, Ohio
and Tennessee rivers.
Right now, Great American Steamboat Company is offering Vacations To Go
customers
shipboard credits of up to $150 per stateroom
on its 2012 river cruises when you book by March 1.
The American Queen is the largest steamboat ever built, and though
filled with contemporary comforts and amenities, the vessel's staterooms
and public areas reflect 19th-century opulence, with gleaming woodwork,
antiques and fresh flowers. Enjoy showboat-style entertainment in the
two-deck-tall Grand Saloon, watch the river scenery roll by from a
rocking chair on deck, borrow a book from the library or even play a few
notes on the ship's calliope.
Passengers will find multiple specialty dining options on board. Full
breakfasts, lunches, dinners and a New Orleans jazz brunch are presented
in the J.M. White Dining Room. The Front Porch of America is open 24
hours, and a grill offers al fresco tables in the evening. Midnight
treats are served in the Engine Room Bar.
Gourmet menus have been created by Chef de Cuisine Regina Charboneau,
who hails from Natchez, and feature American classics as well as
innovative twists on old favorites. You can start your day with hot
beignets or bananas Foster-style French toast, and end it with a fine
five-course meal.
Fares include a champagne welcome reception, complimentary bottled water
and soft drinks throughout the voyage, and complimentary wine and beer
at dinner. All staterooms are equipped with coffee brewers and Starbucks
blends.
Great American Steamboat Company has several special theme cruises lined
up for this year, including Civil War sailings, Big Band sailings and
Fall Foliage vacations. Two of the earliest cruises during the company's
inaugural season are theme cruises as well.
On April 27th, the American Queen will join the Belle of Louisville to
recreate a traditional, pre-Kentucky Derby steamboat race. In addition
to experiencing the excitement of the race, guests will enjoy special
inaugural festivities and events, including a gala christening ceremony
and inaugural ball, onboard events hosted by senior executives from the
company and a two-night stay in historic Memphis prior to departure. For
more information about this 8-day cruise, click
here.
During the following sailing, departing May 4th, guests will have the
opportunity to experience the Kentucky Derby. Enjoy the parades and
festivities in Louisville before the race, then witness the Derby
itself. General admission tickets to the Kentucky Derby and the special
Derby Day party at Seelbach Hotel are included in the price of the
voyage. Limited grandstand seating for the race is available at an
additional cost. For more information about this 5-day vacation, click
